WF Personal Line of Credit - Secured or Unsecured?

Hi everyone,

I’ve had a personal line of credit through Wells Fargo for about 6 years now. Does anyone know if these lines are generally secured or unsecured? I honestly can’t remember the details, and Wells Fargo is sending my loan agreement this week.

Thanks in advance!

If it were secured, you’d probably remember—secured lines usually come with more paperwork.

Thanks! I’ll be checking the loan agreement when it arrives.

Personal lines of credit are generally unsecured, but your agreement will have the final answer.

Most are unsecured. However, if you have deposits or CDs with Wells Fargo, they may use those to offset your balance. Otherwise, if unpaid, their options are typically limited to collections or legal action. If you haven’t made payments in years, keep in mind that any payment could reset the statute of limitations.
