The check will be fake. They’re asking for your bank name because if their fake check is pretending to be from the same bank, your bank will realize it’s fraudulent right away.

They don’t want to send you a check from your bank, so they use your bank name to pick a check more likely to go unnoticed as fraud.
Always amazed at how many people fall for fraud.
