About four months ago, I made two purchases on Amazon using my AMEX card and ended up returning them. Since I’m a secondary cardholder, I couldn’t get much help from support. The primary cardholder spoke to them, and they said they’d send a letter, but I haven’t gotten anything yet. Is there any way for me to get the money I spent back?
Why do you think you’re entitled to a refund?

I returned the items on Amazon, and the credit was applied to the account balance, but it wasn’t my balance; it went to the primary cardholder’s balance. The money I spent was used to pay down what he owes. After dealing with this, I’m definitely considering getting my own account. I was added to build my credit, but this has been a mess.

If AMEX credited the primary cardholder, they’ve done their part. You’ll need to get the money directly from the primary cardholder. AMEX won’t step in for that.

So basically, the amount has already been credited, and I need to get the cash from the primary cardholder, right? Like, they’d just give me the money back directly?
@NickCurrency
Exactly. Whether it’s cash, check, or whatever, it’s between you and the primary cardholder now. AMEX has already processed the refund.

Got it. I hadn’t thought of it that way because I’m close to them, but yeah, it’s pretty straightforward. Thanks for clearing that up.
