I need help with contesting a false resolution

Apologies if my formatting is off; I don’t usually post here.

Two weeks ago, I attempted to deposit cash at an ATM, but it shut down in the middle of the transaction and restarted (I have a video of it). I reported this to the bank, and they informed me that an investigation would take place, and they would recount the money in the ATM, asking me to wait 10 days.

After waiting, I received a letter stating that my claims were unfounded, and the ATM was not out of balance at the time of my report. I lost $140.

Is there any way I can appeal this decision? Surely, there’s a camera recording the transactions, and they should see that their machine’s malfunction caused my loss.

What steps should I take?

Hey, It’s owned by the Central Bank of Missouri. I’m concerned that the long wait means it’s too late to resolve this. I really need that money.

I intended to call the bank using the number provided in the letter they sent me tomorrow, but I’ll make sure to document everything that happened

You can ask them to conduct another review. There is usually video footage, but it typically focuses on the area in front of the ATM rather than the cash insertion point.

Hey, It seems like the next user might have found the cash left in the machine, taken it, and didn’t use their own card, which could make it hard to identify them. In that situation, the machine would show a balanced amount, and the bank probably wouldn’t share footage of the person who took the money.

Hello, Typically, bank employees don’t handle ATMs; that work is usually outsourced to third-party companies, which is why there’s often a delay. ATMs lack cameras to protect security, as they could reveal every card’s PIN. If the ATM had taken your money, there would have been extra counted, but there wasn’t, indicating it didn’t take your cash.
