I switched from Chase to Capital but Chase put it in within 24 hours. With capital it is 5 days now my deposit is still not in… Why? How long does it take? Never heard of this before. Chase, Citi, Wells Fargo, I think all other banks clear within 24 hours… Why is Capital One so backward? I will probably close my bank account and switch to another bank because this is ridiculous none of my friends or family have Capital One now I know why Anyone experiences this slow deposit process with Capital One or any other bank.
I am sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with Capital One.
Note that the time it takes for a check deposit to clear can vary depending on the bank and the type of account. Here is some information about Capital One:
- Checking accounts: Deposits into Essential Checking, 360 Checking, Total Control Checking, and Money Accounts are generally available the next business day.
- Savings accounts: Deposits into 360 Performance Savings, 360 Savings, 360 Money Market, Essential Savings, Confidence Savings, and Kids Savings Accounts are subject to a 4 business day hold.
The delay you are experiencing might be due to the type of account you have or specific verification processes that Capital One employs to ensure security and accuracy. This can sometimes result in longer processing times compared to other banks.
It will appear right away, but it might not be available for three to five days. That’s how a check gets cleared.
You have a new account. Check deposits get additional scrutiny for the first thirty calendar days with a new bank.
And if you close it you’ll experience the same at your new bank. In fact new account check holds can be up to nine business days, so if you’re waiting five they’re already doing you a favor.
You could always ask them to make sure. Novel concept.
Check deposits typically take 1-5 business days to process and clear, depending on your bank’s policies and the type of check. Some banks offer quicker access through mobile deposit or in-person services.
