Anyone know a good bank that doesn’t require them to ship a physical card?

I’m looking for a bank or fintech that doesn’t require shipping a physical debit or credit card. I’d prefer to just use virtual cards for my transactions. Does anyone know of any banks that offer this option, or fintechs that make virtual cards easy to use? I’d appreciate any recommendations or insights based on your experience.

You can actually get virtual debit cards from some fintech companies. They typically offer Visa or Mastercard options that can be created, enabled, disabled, and even discarded or recycled as needed. These virtual cards aren’t meant to be your primary account, but they can be really useful if you transfer funds to them when you’re about to make a purchase. Just keep in mind that the availability of these services can vary depending on your location and jurisdiction.

That sounds really convenient, especially if I don’t want to wait for a physical card. I didn’t realize fintech companies offered so much flexibility with virtual cards. Do you know which fintechs are the most reliable for this?

I don’t have personal experience with all of them, but fintechs like Revolut and Wise are known for offering virtual card options. They let you manage everything through their app, and you can generate or discard cards as needed. It’s really helpful if you’re traveling or want to keep your spending secure.

I’ll check those out! Revolut and Wise both sound like they’d be a good fit for what I need. Thanks for the suggestion.

Any large bank should also be able to help you with this. When you’re opening an account, you can ask them not to send you a physical card, and they’ll likely be able to set up virtual cards for your account. You might have to check with each bank, but this is becoming a more common option these days.

That’s good to know. I hadn’t thought about asking a traditional bank to skip sending a physical card. It might be worth checking with a few banks to see what options they offer. Do you know if banks charge extra for this kind of setup?

From what I’ve seen, most banks won’t charge extra for issuing a virtual card instead of a physical one. It’s usually just an option you can choose when setting up the account or later on through the app. I’d recommend asking about fees just in case, but generally, it should be the same as having a physical card.

That’s reassuring. I’ll make sure to ask about it when I speak to the bank. Thanks for the advice!
