Will I get denied a bank job for my credit?

Hello guyz… Curious if anyone knows what the chances are of me being denied a teller position based on my credit? My debt-to-income ratio is high. I’m literally working on it, but there’s only so much I can do in this economy. Have I missed payments? Yep. Things happen. However, I work in a legal position right now. I am a very by-the-book person at work. I’m very organized when it comes to work. I have a lot of cash handling experience. I am already a notary in my state. I have several interviews lined up at different banks and I’m just wondering if it’s pointless if my credit is going to be the determining factor.

I’ve been in a similar spot before. I had a rough patch with credit too but still landed a job in finance. My advice? Highlight your strengths—your cash handling and notary skills are big wins. Banks do check credit, but they also value experience and reliability. Keep pushing, and don’t lose hope. Sometimes, it’s not all about the numbers but the person behind them.

Your credit history might affect your chances of getting a bank job, as some employers check it to see if you’re responsible with money. Not all employers do this, but it’s common in banking and financial services. Irresponsible financial behavior can raise concerns about theft or reliability.

It varies from bank to bank. It’s possible that they might check your credit to assess any potential risks, but it’s not a major concern for them. Companies have different approaches to this matter.
