What can I do since my bank rejected my claim after I was cheated by Zelle?

I was scammed using Zelle last week through my Capital One account. I disputed the charge with Capital One, but my dispute was denied. I have since reopened the dispute and was provided with an email address to contact. Is there anything specific I can email Capital One to improve my chances of getting a refund?

Not much that you can do. This is seen as an authorized transaction; it’s comparable to taking out cash from the ATM and giving it to someone just to find out later that it was a scam.

A few months ago, I was scammed using Zelle through my Capital One account, and my initial dispute was also denied. Determined to get a refund, I reopened the dispute and emailed Capital One with a detailed account of the scam. In my email, I included all relevant information: the date and amount of the transaction, the recipient’s details, and a clear explanation of how I was deceived.

I also attached screenshots of my communication with the scammer and any other supporting documents. Emphasizing that I was a victim of fraud and citing their policy on protecting customers from unauthorized transactions helped my case. Shortly after, Capital One reconsidered and refunded my money. Being thorough and persistent paid off, so make sure to provide as much detail and evidence as possible in your email.
