I’m trying to make an international transfer from the UK (GBP) to a USD account held in Nepal, but I’m running into some issues. My own bank doesn’t support this type of transfer, and I’ve tried using Wise, but it seems like they’re trying to process the transfer in Nepalese rupees, which keeps getting declined.
This is a regulatory issue that requires Wise to remit exclusively in NPR to Nepal. Also, if you transmit USD via SWIFT to a Nepalese bank, they must convert it to NPR (see Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 2019). Revolut will face the same difficulty.
The service that I’m looking for, I guess? If sending to Nepal, wise people would convert it to rupees rather than USD. Could Revolut function? Although I don’t have it, I know I could store USD in a Revolut account.
