How to Become an Authorized User on a Wells Fargo Credit Card

Hi everyone,

I am interested in becoming an authorized user on a Wells Fargo credit card. Can someone explain the process for adding an authorized user, and what are the benefits or potential drawbacks of doing so? Also, are there any specific requirements or steps I need to follow?

To become an authorized user on a Wells Fargo credit card, the primary cardholder needs to add you to their account.

Here are the steps on how to do it:

  • Log in to Wells Fargo Online: The primary cardholder should sign in to their Wells Fargo account.
  • Navigate to account services: Go to the “Account Services” tab.
  • Select credit card service center: Click on the “Credit Card Service Center.”
  • Add authorized user: Under “Account Management,” select “Add Authorized Users to Your Account.”
  • Enter details: Provide your name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number.
  • Review and submit: Review the information and submit the request.

Sign on to the Credit Card Service Center and select Add Authorized Users to Your Account under Account Management.

Most banks handle authorized users similarly. An authorized user is someone the account holder has permitted to spend from the account, but all account information remains under the account holder’s name. If you want a joint account, you need to apply for one. This applies to any type of credit line or loan as well; you can’t just add or remove people at will; you need to apply for a new loan or line of credit.
