Why do checks take 2 or more business days to clear at the bank?
I deposited a large check into my Ally account, which takes over 2 business days to clear from the other account. With today’s technology, shouldn’t checks clear faster, especially with Check 21? The only time checks clear immediately is when deposited from the same bank.
I guess it depends on how hungry the bank is… They will most likely claim that it takes the standard amount of time for a cheque to clear. Consider how much money they could make in four days by transferring funds across accounts!
