I currently bank with Navy Federal. Recently, I’ve been bombarded with ads and mail from Chase, offering a $200 bonus if I open a checking account and set up a direct deposit of over $500. I also looked into SoFi, but their bonus is only $50. Although Wells Fargo is offering $300, I’m not keen on them due to the negative reputation I’ve heard about. Then there’s Discover. Right now, I’m inclined towards Chase, but I’m unsure if it’s worth it.
Choosing the best checking account depends on your specific needs and preferences. While Chase offers a tempting bonus, it’s essential to consider other factors as well. Here are some top checking accounts to consider:
-
Axos Bank Rewards Checking:
- Rewards: Up to 3.30% APY on balances up to $50,000.
- Minimum Deposit: $50.
- Monthly Maintenance Fee: $0 .
-
PenFed Credit Union Access America Checking:
- ATM Access: Offers 0.15% to 0.35% APY on balances of $20,000 and up to $50,000.
- Minimum Deposit: $25.
- Monthly Maintenance Fee: $10 .
-
Discover Cashback Debit Checking:
- No Fees: No monthly maintenance fees.
- Bonus: While there’s no specific bonus, the absence of fees can be a significant benefit.
- Minimum Deposit: $0 .
-
NBKC Bank Everything Account:
- Checking and Savings: Offers 1.75% APY.
- Minimum Deposit: $0.
- Monthly Maintenance Fee: $0 .
-
Quontic Bank High Interest Checking:
- Convenience: 1.10% APY on all balance tiers.
- Minimum Deposit: $100.
- Monthly Maintenance Fee: $0 .
When choosing a checking account, consider factors beyond the initial bonus, such as ATM access, customer service, and any additional perks. Evaluate which features align best with your banking habits and priorities.
Hi Cyprian. Thanks for the information. Ill recommend the Axos Bank. This is the bank i personally use. Here’s the link
Capital One and Discover Bank. For creating a checking account, Capital One offers a bonus if you make two deposits totaling more than $250.
Thank you, I was also about to apply for their Venture X card. Thus, I’m going to open a Capital One bank account with them.
I agree with this! All of my accounts, including my auto loans, are with Capital One.
Alright, thank you, sir. Please allow me to verify it immediately.
I gave it a try, but it wasn’t really that effective.
If you like getting your paycheck early, check out SoFi. They offer high APY rates for both checking and savings accounts, and I always get paid two days early with them. Alliant also offers good rates and ATM fee reimbursements if that’s important to you.
Additionally, I recommend opening a free Schwab account, especially if you travel internationally. They reimburse unlimited ATM fees and have no foreign transaction fees.
