Where should I bank?

Has anyone had experience with ABC Bank?

What are some good no-fee checking accounts?

I’m fed up with my bank and need a new one, so I’m looking for suggestions.

I live in Florida and use Truist. I have a good credit score (over 730) and always pay off my credit card. Since 2018, Truist has caused me a lot of frustration:

  • They refused to refinance my car loan even when I had a steady income.
  • They denied me a loan during COVID, which almost led to my eviction.
  • They’ve shut off my card twice for “suspicious activity” while I was on vacation, even though I was told I didn’t need to inform them about my travels anymore. The second time, they assured me again that I didn’t need to call, yet they still shut down my card while I was on vacation.
  • They frequently block my card for online or in-app purchases, even for a 99-cent transaction last month.
  • They failed to send me a replacement debit card and didn’t inform me when it got returned in the mail, leaving me waiting for nothing.
  • My latest debit card, which was supposed to arrive two weeks ago, is still missing.

If they shut down my card on a Friday or the weekend, I can’t resolve it until Monday. None of these issues are huge by themselves, but together, it’s a series of annoyances that I’m tired of dealing with. I’d appreciate any recommendations for new banks.

I’m in the market for a new bank that meets a few specific needs. I want an excellent online banking app with the ability to deposit checks and access my full transaction history without any cutoffs after a year. I also need notifications for account activities and access to free ATMs worldwide. I don’t require a physical branch.

It would be a bonus if the bank doesn’t charge overdraft fees, allows categorizing transactions within online banking, offers a credit card with perks like travel insurance, and supports accounts in different currencies under one roof.

In addition to finding a new bank, I’m also looking to get three credit cards to improve my credit score and ensure redundancy. I plan to use one for recurring expenses, another for general use, and a third as a backup. I’m unsure whether to get all these cards from the same bank or different ones to boost my credit score effectively. Any advice would be greatly appreciated since I’m new to this.
